I thought, “Well maybe the House of Lords didn’t exist back then?” But Wikipedia tells me they did and, moreover, met in the same building they meet today (Westminster Palace), just in a different room.
I accept the tunneling story is false, but can you help me see why it’s also silly? I mean, it still seems at least a plausible version of the tale to me.
Well, someone digging a large enough tunnel all the way from a nearby house to under the House of Lords without getting noticed seems pretty silly to me.
